June is always an important month for me.This June not only marks two years at WLEX-TV but seven years total in this wild world of journalism.Quite frankly never thought I'd get to this point. Here's some of the work I've done over the last year or so in the field, on the desk and anywhere this job took me to connect with people.Any feedback is always welcome! Also, I turn 29 at the end of the month so I guess that's why June is important too...

I had the privilege of being a main feature for WLEX-TV at the 150th Kentucky Derby.Nine full length features highlighting a momentous year for the Run for the Roses and the horse industry as a whole.Now that I've come back down to Earth, I want to share some of this content I spent months working on.This one is the story of Old Friends Farm, where hundreds of thoroughbreds are happily enjoying retirement from racing.Enjoy!

The men and women in uniform who protect and serve us every day go through trauma and stress the average person can't relate to.Camp Hero Kentucky gives first responders and military veterans a space to open up about their pain amongst their peers.A beautiful property surrounded by nature that I'm happy to have seen first hand.

The Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Buddy Guy.Just some of the names Tee Dee Young has shared the stage with.His guitar has taken him all over the world, but it always brought him back home to Lexington.To this day he is keeping the blues alive while building bonds between people of all backgrounds.Hope it's music to your ears.

I can't begin to imagine, I don't think any of us can.In just a few weeks time, Cindy Mullins has lost both her arms and legs.A 41-year-old mother of two's life has changed forever but she's almost unphased by it.Ready to take on her new life and inspire others with a message of what matters most.

It's the time of year everyone starts putting others over ourselves.However, for Habitat for Humanity, that's always the goal.I joined their latest home build in Lexington to show the full circle journey for volunteers and the eventual home owners.It always does the heart good to help as you'll see and hear in this piece.

If nothing else, I learned to stick to reporting full time....Thanks to Transylvania University for letting me have some fun with Dasia Thornton and the Women's Basketball team.The Pioneers are coming off the perfect season, 33-0 and a national title.I got to learn more about Dasia, a fifth-year senior for the Pios, and about the magical run this team had.Couldn't help but get back on the court to share this story.At least I didn't hurt myself.

To all my fellow journalists, I hope it's never lost on any of us when we are truly able to connect with a story.I spent an hour in Mike Rogers' home talking with him before I even set up a camera.A man with so much life experience, so much passion and so much heartbreak.His wife of 52 years passed away in July and he's using his love of music to share their story around the world on TikTok.After this story aired, his daughter messaged me saying I'm a part of their family now.Our job is hard. Always appreciate moments like this.
