Frisco Melt Sloppy Joes Recipe:

Do you love recipe mash-ups? You know, taking two of your favorite things and combining them into something completely new? That’s exactly what I did for Frisco Melt Sloppy Joes. My family goes crazy over sloppy joes, and I have two versions that I make regularly (Super Fast and Classic), and I love Frisco Melts from Steak N Shake.

One day, I was planning lunch, and some leftover Swiss and American cheese and French and Thousand Island dressings that needed used up, so I whipped up these Frisco Sloppy Joes. The result was a 30 minute meal that the whole family gobbled up. Serve these on a bun, as an open sandwich over bread, or over a baked potato.

Notes About Copy Cat Steak N Shake Frisco Melts (Sloppy Joes):

  • If you dig copycat Frisco Melt recipes, try our Frisco Melt Hamburger Helper, Frisco Melt Tater Tot Casserole, and Beyer Beware’s Frisco Melt Sticks.
  • Many sloppy joe recipes have diced bell peppers. This ingredient is completely optional to your family’s tastes.
  • I’ve found that different brands of Thousand Island dressing can have different tastes. Some (including Kraft) are much stronger in flavor. If you aren’t a super fan of this flavor to begin with, start with a couple tablespoons and work up as you are tasting it.
  • If you are out of Thousand Island dressing, use only French. It will be fine.
  • Swiss cheese can be left out completely if you family is adverse to the flavor. On the flip side, use more Swiss cheese if desired.
