Raytown’s Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to providing the citizens of Raytown with a variety of recreational facilities and programs at a reasonable cost. Residents of Raytown can now explore the range of benefits the city has to offer through our web site. Please visit each section of our site and find out what we have to offer you!

Mission Statement

The Raytown Parks & Recreation Department was established under its own Board of Directors for the following purposes:

A. To serve the residents of Raytown and the general public by providing:

– A pleasant, safe, and well-maintained parks, recreational facilities, and equipment at a reasonable cost to the participant.

– A variety of recreational programs that are designed, scheduled and staffed to maximize accessibility.

  1. To provide a working environment for its staff that promotes safety, open communication, and fair treatment.
  2. To provide the City of Raytown and it’s taxpayers a department that effectively and efficiently uses its funding and resources to generate a sense of pride in the community.

Shelter House Reservations

Reservations for the current year can be made starting the first working day in January for the shelters in Colman Park (2) and Kenagy Park (2) and Kritser Park (1). Come in or call us to make the reservations. Hours available for park use are from 7 am – 11 pm. Please check the website for reservation fees.

Parks

Sarah Colman-Livengood Park59th & Lane. This 15-acre park includes 2 shelter houses for rental, 4 lighted tennis courts, a lighted softball field, basketball court, playground, horseshoe pit and walking trail – .63 miles in length.

  1. Lee Kenagy Park79th & Raytown Rd. This 18 acre park includes 6 shelter houses (2 for rental), 4 lighted tennis courts, 2 playgrounds, softball field, walking trail – .44 miles in length, a fishing pond and the “Raytown Skate Park” for skateboards and rollerblades.

Southwood Park – 81st & Arlington. This 10 acre park includes a basketball court, 1 tennis court, shelter house, playground, 4 Frisbee golf baskets and walking trail.

Minor Smith Park – 81st & Ash – This 10 acre park includes a basketball court, 2 lighted tennis courts, shelter house, playground, 5 Frisbee Golf baskets and walking trails – outside loop .43 miles and inside loop .31 miles in length.

Raytown BMX Track12605 Frost Rd. This 5-acre park includes a BMX track and soccer practice areas. raytownbmx.org

Little Blue Trace Park – 350 Hwy. & Noland Rd. This 33-acre park includes 4 lighted softball fields, 2 soccer fields, restroom and picnic shelters.

Henry C. Kritser Park – 75th & Woodson. This 12 acre park includes 2 playgrounds, 2 shelter houses (1 for rental), ball fields, shuffleboard court and a walking trail – this park has four loops. See our website for trail information.

Community Events

47th Annual Fishing Derby

The Raytown Parks Department will host its Annual Fishing Derby on June 1 at Kenagy Pond from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. The derby is free and open to Raytown residents of all ages. Registration for the derby will begin at 8:00am.

Kids Day at Kenagy (Date TBD)

This is a free event, open to all ages, 10 am – 1 pm. There will be a petting zoo for the kids to enjoy. Also a police car, a firetruck, and an ambulance will be there for the kids to explore.

Raytown Live

Raytown Live is a family-friendly concert on the Town Center Greenspace in Downtown (10009 E. 62nd St.) on the second Saturday of the month May thru September 7 to 9 pm. We invite you to bring blankets or lawn chairs, your favorite family picnic dinner – or grab a dinner from one of the on-site food vendors – and join folks from all over Raytown to kick back, enjoy the tunes, and get to know your neighbors.
